Much Ado About Nothing

A fabulous Summer outing, regardless of the weather – the Globe Theatre on Tour offered up such a theatrical event as brought together school parties, families, older people, toddlers and more to gather and feast in the park on comedy, music, drama and picnics, resonating with Shakespeare’s travelling players of old, but served up by some of the best our contemporary theatre has to offer. Simply staged and gleefully received for it, with each of the eight cast members utterly inhabiting their roles – especially the delightfully sharp Beatrice and bombastic Benedick – this cultural oasis just a hop and a skip away from Western Road is an enjoyment that reminds just how much fun Shakespeare really can be.
