Dementia: Facing the Next 10 Years
Some 35 million people in the world have dementia with numbers set to grow dramatically in the next 10 years. A third of UK hospital patients have one form or another. Dementia is no longer the black sheep of the medical world and a packed audience highlighted the fact that the time to talk about it is now.
An amazing panel shared touching, heart wrenching facts, figures, stories and realities of the world of dementia and its carers. The most powerful message today was that dementia sufferers’ largest need is to be shown compassion, friendship, and even (when appropriate) a sense of humour.
