Zoe Lyons and Seann Walsh
The first in the season of Edinburgh previews and try-outs of new material, this had an exciting air of the unpredictable as Zoe Lyons took to the small stage with a handful of flash cards representing topics she’d written new material on. Using the novel approach of scattering them on the floor face down and getting an audience member to select ones at random this felt fun, fresh and very funny. Zoe is witty, entertaining and reassuringly likeable on stage. Seann did an opening short set of new material, equipped with his laptop in place of flash cards. He engaged with us, keeping up a strong likability factor throughout. New gags hit and missed without any loss of faith on our part – in fact prompting quite a few real hoots of laughter. Such promise, such a treat, such fortuity to have these two on our doorstep.
