POPULATION BOOM
Brighton and Hove is braced for a population boom, with the number of people choosing the city as home set to rocket in the next five years.

Latest figures show the population is set to rocket from about 270,000 currently to nearly 300,000 by 2021.

Some claim it is a good thing as it shows just how popular the city is.

Shoreham Airshow

FLYING HIGH
Magnificent men and women in their flying machines took to the skies for the 25th Shoreham Airshow.

Tens of thousands of people turned out to watch the event, dubbed by many the best ever.

The highlight was seeing the last two serving Lancaster bombers flying for what could be the last time.

But with all types of craft on display it truly was a day to remember.

BANG ON TUNE
After much fanfare Rottingdean Jazz Festival went off with a bang as hundreds enjoyed music at venues across the town.

The celebration of all things jazz was the brainchild of Dr Roy Wales, who runs Rottingdean Arts.

Artists to feature included Herbie Flowers and Bobby Wellins.

CHARITY CHALLENGE
It’s a craze which has taken social media by storm with the likes of Ricky Gervais, Victoria Beckham and Chris Martin getting involved.

And now Brighton business owner, Gary Peters, took the Ice Bucket Challenge – that’s the new craze of throwing a bucket of icy water over your head for charity – to a whole new level.

The man behind Brighton and Hove Jobs.com teamed up with Brighton’s Sea Life Centre and took a dip in the attraction’s icy waters after being dared by his colleagues.

Brighton bartender Francois Monin took on the mammoth task of opening 2,000 bottles of beer in less than 30 minutes.

BOARD OF BRIGHTON?
What would you do if Brighton and Hove was taken over by zombies?

Well, that’s the hook of a brand new board game created by Brighton-based cartoonist Paul Stapleton.

It’s the second game he has created following on from BN1, which certainly provided a hit in many local households.

Going on sale for Halloween we’re sure it will be a big success.

TELEVISION LAUNCH
As if you didn’t know, Brighton and the surrounding area has a brand new television channel.

Latest TV launched on Freeview channel 8 at 6pm on Thursday with up to 400,000 people being able to watch the local channel.

With a mix of news, sport, and entertainment plus a mantra of “you make it, we show it”, there’s plenty of opportunity for everyone in the area to get involved.
