Investigation under way after fire in Brighton
A fire investigation started this morning (Friday 5 September) after a blaze in Brighton last night (Thursday 4 September).
Firefighters from Roedean were sent to tackle a fire in the open near Devonshire Place just after 8.20pm after a fence fire spread to a roof.
Traffic was unable to head west down Edward Street as the fire engine was stationed at the corner of Edward Street and Devonshire Place.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters used one hose reel to tackle the fire which was extinguished by 10.45pm last night.
“A fire investigation officer from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service returned to the scene this morning to carry out a full examination and Sussex Police’s scenes of crime officer attended.
“The area was closed off for investigation purposes.”
