RICHEST REVEALED
Ever wondered where the richest part of Brighton and Hove was? Well, thanks to new figures from the Office for National Statistics, I can tell you that it’s the Hove Park area. Apparently households there earn an average weekly wage of £930.

Locals said the reason the affluent flocked there was due to the perfect location, which was acceptable to young and old.

Expect property prices to rocket any time soon…

LIVING WAGE
Brighton and Hove has become a living wage city. What started as a idea muted by the city council has turned into a campaign led by businesses. And now, in Living Wage week, it can be revealed that more than 150 businesses have signed up to pay their staff a minimum of £7.65 an hour.

Speaking to those who have already signed up, they say the impact it has staff is immeasurable. But not every one is so keen, with some in the tourism industry still reluctant to pay more than they legally have to.

GIANT PEEPERS IN TOWN
Meet Brighton’s new giant peepers. These larger-than-life characters (pictured above) were installed at Brighton’s Royal Pavilion by artist Maisie Broadhead.

The exhibition is designed to make you feel like people are being watched – and as Latest TV’s James Lillywhite found out, it certainly has that impact. The exhibition will run till March.

HOVE FOOTBRIDGE
Residents are up in arms over the bridge at Hove Station. While Brighton station has received plenty of funding recently, the terminal down the road appears to have been overlooked. Central to the frustration is the footbridge – which is plagued by vandalism and difficult for those with mobility users to access.

But as we found out, getting someone to own up to looking after the overpass is proving a tad difficult.

REMEMBRANCE
On Thursday the nation will bow its head for Remembrance Day. This year’s event will be even more poignant as it ties in to British troops leaving Afghanistan after almost 15 years of fighting.

Ceremonies will take place across the city on Sunday – with the main event taking place at Brighton’s Old Steine.

Over in Worthing, local MP Tim Loughton is using the day to award an Artic Star Medal to those veterans who served aboard the Artic Conveys in World War Two. I for one will be wearing my poppy with pride.

HORROR SHOW
The Rocky Horror Show has entertained hundreds of fans across the world since its release.

And one local theatre company in Brighton is putting on a new version of the show for Halloween – all for Sussex Beacon.

The spooktacular show saw dancers perform a shortened version of the musical as diners tucked in at Brighton’s Hilton Metropole. And with Biggins hosting the event, it sure went down a treat.

MONSTER PUMPKIN
Is this Brighton and Hove’s biggest pumpkin? We certainly think so. The 33kg monster was picked out by Brighton newsagent Vinod Mashru as part of his daily fruit and veg order. And to raise money for charity, he spent last week challenging customers to pick it up. Let’s hope it didn’t squash anyone…

PRANKSTER FLOORS OFFICIALS
And finally, one prankster is so fed up with a bricked walkway being tarmacked over, he has told council officials exactly what he thinks.

The peeved resident has scrawled “unacceptable” in chalk on the blackened surface in Montague Street, Worthing – even adding a phone number for people to complain.

West Sussex County Council said the tarmac was a temporary measure and it would be repaired soon. Proof that when it come to pranks, Worthing is streets ahead…
