Delays for Brighton and Hove commuters by road and rail

Commuters from Brighton and Hove face long delays this morning by road and rail.

A fire alarm went off at Victoria, in London, earlier today (Wednesday 19 November). As a result the station was evacuated, leading to disruption and delays across the rail network.

An accident on the M25 clockwise has caused tailbacks and delays for several miles down the M23. The queues start before the turn-off for Gatwick.

Side roads and alternative routes were also reported to be jammed solid.

Closer to home, roadworks in Saltdean were reported to have exacerbated queues along the A259 South Coast Road between Peacehaven and Rottingdean.

Drivers using Arundel Road West as a time-saver to jump the queues found themselves having to go back and rejoin the road where they left it.
