Record Breakers

We broke a record this week. We smashed it to smithereens. We laughed in the face of the old record. Laughed in disbelief that we could be so naive to think it couldn’t be broken.

Lynn, Guy and I filmed not one, not two, not three… but ten video packages this week! Ten lovely stories of happenings in and around Brighton, for all you dear viewers to enjoy.

We’ve always been good to you, but this week Christmas has surely come early. To start, Guy and I visited a very special group of people at The Emporium. They are the people behind the ‘Happy Café’, the first of its kind in the country. We learnt all about the ten steps to happiness and what it really means to be truly happy. This was good for Guy because he was quite unhappy – he unfortunately supports Tottenham Hotspur and apparently they are doing very badly in the Premier League. They’ve seen lots of defeats, very few goals and rubbish performances. I spoke to Stan from the café and he told me Guy has been in there every day ever since. Sometimes crying, sometimes not.

To cheer him up, I thought it would be a good idea to visit the Brighton Toy and Model Museum. He came in teary-eyed, readers, and left with the biggest smile on his face. We learnt all about trains and models and aeroplanes … and teddy bears! The museum allegedly has the largest collection of model trains in the entire world. The whole experience was fantastic. Guy, again, is still there. Juice FM is very concerned…

Lynn and I have also been busy. We attended an art installation above Vine Street Studios with the fantastic Cassette Lord. He’d set-up the exhibition with some of his artist chums. Lynn and I spoke to a fantastic series of artists exhibiting; we spoke to a ceramist who designs lamp shades, a photographer who makes pieces with physical cameras and lights, and of course Martin Middleton. (He’s the Cassette Lord!)

Then, from art on paper, we went to art on stage. Lynn was performing at an event to raise money for World Aids Day at Proud Cabaret in London. It was set-up by choreographer Wilmot Mulley, and what a fantastic show it was. Lots of scantily clad women… and that was just Lynn’s performance! Keep your eyes peeled for all these amazing video inserts and plenty more besides.

This week on the show we’ve got Paul L. Martin talking panto, and Julie Jepson talking comedy. Dr. David Bramwell talks books and Sam Savage makes us laugh. David Deaves, from La Cave a Fromage, stopped by to talk cheese, and Paul C. Burr tells us all about love. Mark Brailsford lets us know how his brand new comedy venue is doing and Rha Stranges provides us with music.

We’re on Wednesday to Saturday at 7pm, on Freeview Channel 8, Virgin Median Channel 159 and live online @ www.thelatest.tv. Come on people, we want to break another record… our viewing figures!
