Lucy Worsley presents a gorey history at Worthing’s Connaught Theatre
Historian Lucy Worsley talks murder at Worthing Theatres, in a new illustrated tour through the dark story of our fascination with the subject. A Very British Murder comes to the Connaught Theatre on Wednesday 4 February and tickets are on sale now.
Lucy has covered the history of this very British obsession in a book and BBC TV series of the same name, and in this theatre tour she shares its secrets. A renowned historian and Chief Curator at the charity Historic Royal Palaces, Lucy will examine some notorious crimes and criminals in expert detail, but also explains how murder became a form of middle-class entertainment through novels, plays, paintings and the press.
Starting with a horrific early nineteenth-century serial killer in the East End of London, she’ll end with the tame (by comparison) drawing room dramas of Agatha Christie.

Alice In Wonderland
Anew production of Alice in Wonderland is coming to Lewes Little Theatre, and it’s billed as fun for all the family! The younger members of the Youth Theatre are performing arguably one of the best-loved children’s books of all time. Directed by Tim Rowland, with a talented cast, both Alice in Wonderland and Through The Looking Glass are respectfully brought up to date in this crazy, hip-hop infused, hilarious and nonsensical extravaganza.
Visitors will be invited to join in with the world famous, absurd characters including The Mad Hatter, the Red Queen, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, along with a very perplexed Alice for a thrilling theatrical adventure.
