Comedy: Sneaky Peaks
Brighton Fringe out – and the Edinburgh Fringe approach brings rich fruits
Wasn’t the Brighton Fringe choc-full of fabulous shows and lovely ideas? We are very fortunate to have such a smorgasbord of talent come our way for what is now England’s biggest Fringe festival, but if you’re worried about running dry on imaginative new shows, creative places to find laughs, and comics from around the country descending on us with their hopes in our hands… fear not.
The largest Fringe festival in the world is the Edinburgh Fringe, and that takes place over three weeks in August. It’s a showcase internationally of writing and performances talents from all fields to grab attention from the TV magnates, the movie moguls, as well as agents, venues and – of course – the general public. Which means that loads of the best comics in the country, and around the world, have spent the last six months working on a show they think will show them off to the very best of their abilities. And it is these shows, these treasured babies, that are brought to respected audiences to help mold and shape to perfection. Luckily, Brighton audiences are renowned for knowing their comedy and being a very good tuning fork for quality, which means that we will get the chance, throughout June and July, of seeing shows in thier almost-ready state from some of the best names in comedy for a fraction of the fully finished show’s price. We’re helping them to shape the very best, but if it wasn’t something they were already pretty chuffed with they wouldn’t bring it in front of an audience at all!
So, check out the venues and take your pick. The names coming to town include James Acaster, Angela Barnes, Sara Pascoe, Paul Sinha, Mark Steel, Rob Beckett, Stephen Carlin, Holly Burn, Nathan Caton, Carl Donnelly, Tiffany Stevenson, Ed Gamble, Iain Sterling, Joe Lycett and many more. Told you they were good.
