Brighton and Hove’s historic statues given a right royal tidy

Two of the city’s most prominent monuments are being given a right royal tidy.

Scaffolding has gone up around the Peace Statue and the Queen Victoria statue at the bottom of Grand Avenue.

Heritage and conservation experts are now painstakingly cleaning and carrying out any necessary repairs to the two bronze statues, which take a battering from the elements because of their exposed seafront location.

It’s expected to take eight weeks to complete.
