Comedy: The Chatty Man, and plenty more to talk about, in this week’s comedy
The Chatty Man, and plenty more to talk about, in this week’s comedy
Alan Carr is coming to town! Not only that, he’s staying in town for three nights! Count ‘em. Always popular, as patron of the Sussex Beacon and general top notch comic, and hosting a new series every Friday of his Channel 4 chat show, it’s a joy to have Mr Carr take up residence at the Brighton Dome for a bit.
Alan Carr has a strong Brighton fanbase, but he’s not the only one in the area making people laugh this week.
Over in Shoreham at the Ropetackle, former Brighton local and star of BBC3’s Impractical Jokers, Paul McCaffrey is bringing his most recent show in to our full attention on Wednesday night. Brighton comedy fans might also recognise him as one of the regular MCs of monthly favourite Comic Boom at Komedia, with his own personable style of observational comedy ringing true and tickling that funny bone.
In the centre of town, come Thursday night, and the Rialto opens its theatre doors to laughter with the Comedy Cooler, headlined this month by Sean McLoughlin.
There’s an incredible collection of local comics on Comedy Cooler’s line-up of support this week, not least of which are the delightfully engaging Jim Holland, the razor-sharp Laurie Rowan, and the musical mayhem comedian that is James McDonnell.
Headliner Sean McLoughlin twists his dark and captivating stories and ideas into some of the most compelling comedy, delivering a unique comic voice that’s incredible to see.
And then comes the weekend where, if you’re after something off the beaten track of regular stand-up you might just find yourself on the doorstep of the Caroline Of Brunswick. Always worth checking out for its exclusive previews (like the recent dates there announced by Romesh Ranganathan that sold out within hours) this Saturday sees the Caroline visited by comics in the guise of storytellers for Titter. A monthly evening that asks if you’re sitting comfortably and then begins, with original stories from all.
So there you have it. Laughs all round to suit all styles and all pockets. Book now.
