The Wainwright Sisters

The female members of Loudon’s dynasty promised a night of depressing lullabies and delivered much more, based around their ‘Songs In The Dark’ album. Lilting, late night cowboy melodies, bleak tales of hobos and songs guaranteed to give anyone nightmares, that were either sung to them as children or chosen for their fit, may have been a tad under-rehearsed in places but the sisters talent and charm easily papered over the cracks. Their solo spots saw Martha premiere some tasty folk rockers from her next album while Lucy ruminated on the aunt/niece relationship before the night ended fittingly with Dad’s twisted ‘Lullaby’.
