Stewart Lee – A Room With A Stew

Comedian Stewart Lee plays the audience with the deft skill and apparent magic of a theramin maestro. This extra date of a tour engineered to preview material for a television show that has already been recorded was a delight of orchestrated awkwardness, apparent tangents that take us into forests of Lee’s top notch material, and a breakdown that was – perversely – a marvellously unique joy to witness. Sending up the bitter and jealous expectation of ‘a comedian’ with a glimpse of a gleefully corpsed grin, Lee’s deconstruction of his comedy art is truly his own, showing up and gently mocking the imitators in his wake. Such glorious wicked fun.
