Brighton Dome receives £5 million lottery grant for venue refurb

The multimillion pound restoration of Brighton’s arts quarter has received a big boost today – with the awarding of a five million pound grant.

The Heritage Lottery Fund money will pay for a major refurbishment of the Brighton Dome Corn Exchange and the Studio Theatre.
The project is part of a regeneration of the Royal Pavilion Estate to create a world-class cultural destination in the heart of the city.

It comes on top of £5.8m pledged by Arts Council England last year.

Two thirds of the 19 million required has now been raised with a final push set to be announced later this year

Very good news, indeed. I am looking for support and sponsorship to make the I360 tower into a sundial, by marking the pavements around it with white paths and marked scales, so that where the edge of the shadow falls tells the time and the date. This would replicate ancient sundials, like the one in Rome, built in 9AD by Augustus, with a 30 meter column (gnomon) A website is under construction at http://www.i360sundial.org.uk, or ring me on 01273 417997.
