Brighton and Hove faces hosepipe ban

Southern Water is to bring in a hosepipe ban covering Brighton andHovein four weeks’ time.

The company said that the ban would come in on Thursday 5 April and would mainly affect domestic not commercial users.

In a statement the company said: “From April 5, the company is restricting the use of hosepipes and sprinklers inSussex.

“The restrictions apply to customers whose water is supplied by Southern Water and primarily cover domestic, not commercial, use.”

Under the ban people will not be allowed to use a hosepipe to fill swimming pools, paddling pools, ponds and fountains.

Nor will they be able to use hosepipes on their gardens and allotments. Public parks will be caught by the ban too.

Southern Water said that this was the first hosepipe ban inSussexsince 2006.
