Hove man jailed after V For Vendetta-style robbery in Worthing

A masked man who held a gun to a woman’s head during a robbery in Worthing has been jailed.

In a scene reminiscent of the film V For Vendetta, three men wearing Guy Fawkes masks targeted a home in Thorn Road, Worthing in October last year.

They knocked on the door of the flat and forced the 21-year-old owner to hand over £1,000 in cash

The money had been saved for a trip to Disneyland for her and her young daughter.

The trio also stole two mobile phones during the robbery. No one was injured in the incident.

Leon Hazel, aka Cohen, of Wilfrid Road, Hove, was convicted of robbery and possession of a firearm in March this year.

He has now been sentenced at Chichester Crown Court to nine years’ imprisonment.
