Involuntary Noises: The Songs of Jody Trehy
“Cracking good songs in the style of Brecht, Bowie and Brel” Irish Times
Shortlisted for the Brighton Fringe Award for Excellence for his performances at Edinburgh 2015, Dubliner Jody Trehy takes to the Brighton Fringe stage for the first time, with a fabulous line-up of musicians, as part of his Involuntary Noisesalbum tour.
Jody Trehy has been writing and performing inimitable folk-rock songs in Ireland and the UK for the past few years. A performer of singular wit and style, he brings an unconventional and dramatic voice to the singer-songwriter scene blending a dynamic mix of musical and theatrical styles, with poetic lyrics, infectious, soulful melodies, and socially engaging subject matter,
Joining him on stage will be jazz pianist and trumpeter from London: Paul ‘Sausage-Fingers’ Higgs, Belfast legend Sean ‘Dr. Wu’ Walsh on bass; from Dublin: the world-class Paul ‘Burnin’ Rubber’ Byrne on drums. In addition, the band will be joined by a surprise guest or two each night, performing songs from his musical theatre repertoire.
In addition to his current release, Involuntary Noises, Jody has produced two well-received EPs; Secret Rose and Presence, and one full album, Promise. In 2009, he was commissioned to write songs for the Irish hit comedy, Macbecks, which ran in the Olympia Theatre, Dublin and Cork Opera House. He has also written a musical satire, Eejit Of Love, which was produced and broadcast by RTE in 2012/2013 and ran to critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe 2015. October 2016 will see him showcasing a new musical based on an old anti-war film from 1948 entitled The Boy With Green Hair.
