Internship – Sports Reporter
Term: 6 months.
Hours: 3-4 days a week.
Remuneration: Travel costs covered.
The Role:
Our sports coverage is one of our highest viewed areas of programming. With programmes such as Albion Night, showing three hours of Brighton & Hove Albion content a week, as well as strong coverage of local non-league, women’s football, cricket, basketball, hockey, roller derby, kitesurfing and tennis, there is plenty on offer across Sussex to keep any sport fans entertained.
With so much sport happening in the local area Latest TV are looking for someone who is passionate about sport and is up to date on what is happening in the local sporting scene.
During the course of this six month placement, the successful applicant will be given hands on training with our cameras and editing software, in order to help regularly film and report on a great number of local sports events including the current football season.
This experience will also offer on-screen training for any budding TV presenters, as you will be part of our daily sports news and other sport programming reaching thousands of viewers each week.
Skills:
- At least one A Level, or equivalent, in Media Studies, Journalism or other similar subjects. University degree or NCTJ preferred but not essential.
- A passion for sport with at least a basic knowledge of the sport scene in Brighton and across Sussex.
- Experience using cameras and Premiere Pro editing software will be useful but not essential as training is part of the internship.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and work in a fast paced news room environment where daily deadlines are a must.
