Ruby Turner
Later… With Jools Holland regular Ruby Turner took centre stage for herself this time, in a show blending soul, jazz and gospel. Accompanied by a full band, Ruby belted out a mixture of old classics and newer songs, in a rich, powerful voice. Sweet and mellow, with just enough soul, she was delightful to listen to. The show was in two parts; the first a slower, softer set, with the second a faster-paced, more energetic performance, ending with a captivating version of Etta James’ ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’, before returning for an encore that had the audience up and dancing.
