An evening with author David Mitchell

Ostensibly to promote and publicise his anticipated forthcoming publication ‘The Thousand Autumn’s of Jacob De Zoet’, the evening was nonetheless a pleasant and at times tantalising glimpse into Mitchell’s writing process. Whilst providing extracts of a work in progress about a child’s relationship with her excessive gambling father, the author really touched base with an attentive audience whom at times gave guidance to the grateful author on changing text or grammar, remedying it on the spot. The Q&A was equally enlightening and provided sumptuous details on the inner workings of a bestselling author.
