Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo

There were whoops, bouquets and cries of ‘Encore’ all around Brighton Dome after The Trocks’ (as they are affectionately known) extended curtain call. And all the adulation was justified as their spoof ballet provoked chuckles and wonder at their technical dancing skills in equal measure.

Their interpretation of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake was the highlight, as a chorus of rough and ready cygnets helped protect the most glamorous of Odettes (and s/he knew it). The comedy, mainly sly grimaces and falling over, was perfectly executed, and never diminished the fact that these guys playing gals playing guys can really ‘Go for Baroque!’
