Meditation is being endorsed by scientists, doctors and even governments as a way of helping us live a happier life, and many people are looking for ways that they can learn to practise.

The Shambhala Meditation Group meets every Thursday evening at the Happy Cell on Davidgor Road, with free instruction for anyone curious to find out more.

The group is part of a worldwide network of meditation centres whose deep roots lie in the ancient lineages of Tibetan Buddhism. They teach meditation, Buddhism and contemplative arts as ways to live a peaceful and dignified life.

Meditation is taught as the basis for creating a more enlightened society, in which we can flourish as individuals and communities.

In June and July, Shambhala Brighton is also offering ‘Meditation In Everyday Life’, a two-day course for people who would like to explore the practice of meditation in more depth.

The programme will offer suggestions on how mindfulness can help us live more meaningfully and with joy, deepening our intelligence and compassion.

The connection between meditation and health will be explored through talks, discussion and individual guidance. One of the best ways of learning to meditate is with friendly, like-minded others, and Shambhala Brighton would be delighted to welcome you to any of their events.
