Find a class that caters for your specific health and wellbeing needs at Revitalise

Pilates is gentle yet effective and is highly recommended as a form of exercise post injury or if you suffer with ongoing problems such as back pain. Revitalise in Hove caters for all abilities with a timetable of classes including Pregnancy, Post-Natal Pilates and Back Care Pilates.

“Our extremely popular Pregnancy Pilates classes are a great way for you to enjoy hugely beneficial and safe exercises during your pregnancy in a small group environment,”?says Clare Brown, studio director at Revitalise and mother of three.

Class sizes are limited to just eight clients, with specialised teachers who will adapt the class to meet your individual needs depending on your stage of pregnancy. “Attention will be paid to maintaining muscle tone, especially around the core muscles and the pelvic floor in addition to breathing to aid relaxation,” explains Clare. “Many of our clients have reported Pregnancy Pilates to have reduced back pain and neck and shoulder tension, improve circulation, improve posture and help them to relax and sleep at night. Many have also put Pilates down to a quicker return to their pre-natal shape.”

Post-Natal Pilates is a perfect re-introduction to exercise after having a baby and will focus on the most important muscles: your pelvic floor and deep abdominal muscles, as well as helping you to maintain and enhance good posture and pelvic stability. “It can take up to six months for your body to return as it was pre pregnancy and a specific post natal class means the exercises can be tailored to meet your individual needs,” says Clare. “You can join this class from six weeks after giving birth subject to clearance at your post partum check.”

For clients with very specific back care problems, or for those with any other movement limitation, a Back Care Pilates class is ideal. “This class is at a slower pace to ensure each exercise can be modified and adapted to ensure safe and effective movements,” explains Clare. “Alternative exercises can be given if a movement is not suitable for you and the focus will be on enhancing mobility, flexibility and deep core strength to increase functional movement.”

A one-to-one class is recommended for those who have been referred by a health practitioner. These are suitable for those with injuries, specific needs, or for those who may simply prefer a one-to-one private session. Sessions last for one hour and cost £40.

New Pilates courses start week commencing 1 August. If you are away on holiday, missed classes can be made up by dropping in to other classes on a different day/night. Beginner, improver, intermediate and advanced classes are all available and to make it even easier, Revitalise offers a free class for all new clients (six weeks for the price of five, saving £8).

New courses start w/c 1 August: Pregnancy classes, Thursdays 6–7pm, Saturdays 9.30–10.30am; Post natal classes, Thursdays 7pm–8pm and back care classes, Tuesdays 10–11am (if these times do not suit, clients without very specific needs could book into a beginner post natal or back care class). Client testimonials
“I had a natural birth and only used the tens machine during labour and at the end part did not have any pain relief at all. I wanted to thank you so much as I used the breathing you taught me throughout the labour as my best form of pain relief. Also Isabella was in the best position for birth, which I am certain was from the pilates exercises.”
– Juliet Price, Pregnancy Pilates

“With 2 young children it is my time to focus on something completely different. It’s brilliant to find an exercise that has helped me shed baby weight, makes me stronger, gives me a better posture and is also relaxing. I wouldn’t do it anywhere else.”
>– Hannah Barratt, Post-Natal Pilates

“I started pilates at Revitalise 14 months ago to help a recurrent back problem I have suffered with for 16 years. The last year has been the best my back has been for 16 years. I wish I had started years ago.”
– Stuart Morgan, Backcare Pilates
