Driver caught with drugs worth £20k on edge of Brighton
Traffic police stopped a driver whose car had a faulty rear light and found half a kilogram of cocaine with an estimated street value of £20,000.
Spartak Rumano, 33, was driving towards Brighton down the A23 when he was stopped at Pyecombe by officers from the Sussex Police Road Policing Unit.
They became suspicious and searched the car.
They arrested Rumano, who lives in Ecclesbourne Close, Palmer’s Green, London, after finding the cocaine in his glove compartment at about 10.30pm on Thursday night (8 September).
He appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Friday (9 September) charged with having cocaine with intent to supply.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Lewes Crown Court on Monday 10 October.
