Motorcycle passenger hurt in crash on Brighton seafront

A pillion passenger was seriously injured when the motorcycle she was on was involved in a crash in Brighton on Saturday afternoon (8 October).

Sussex Police said that the blue Kawasaki ZZR600 was extensively damaged when it was in collision with a blue Nissan Quasqai at the junction of Marine Parade and New Steine at 5.44pm.

The 30-year-old passenger, from Wembley, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, with severe cuts to her leg.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 29-year-old man from Slough, was treated at the Royal Sussex for minor leg injuries.

The driver of the Nissan, a 52-year-old man from Hayes, Middlesex, was uninjured.

Thousands of motorcyclists were in Brighton over the weekend. Yesterday (Sunday 9 October) they gathered on Brighton seafront for the annual Brightona festival. They were raising money for the Sussex Heart Charity.
