Brighton man suffers severe burns in substation shock
A 40-year-old Brighton man suffered life-threatening injuries after receiving an electric shock early yesterday (Tuesday 25 October).
The man scaled a fence at an electrical substation in Spring Gardens, Brighton, where he made contact with the current at about 4.20am.
His clothing caught fire and he suffered severe burns, Sussex Police said.
He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton then transferred to the specialist St Andrew’s Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns at the Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex.
Sussex Police said that officers had been liaising with the man when he received the shock.

A spokesman said that the IPCC was no longer investigating this incident.
