David Whittle, 36, is alleged to have robbed The Offie in Whitehawk Road, Whitehawk, on Monday 15 August.

He was also accused of attempting to rob Mulberry Wines in Whitehawk Way, Whitehawk, on Sunday 21 August.

He faced a further charge of robbing a man of his iPhone in Spring Gardens on Thursday 25 August.

Each of the offences involved the use of a large knife which, the prosecutor said, had been recovered by Sussex Police.
