Brighton man seriously injured after accident involving cab

A 44-year-old man from Brighton suffered serious injuries after an accident involving a taxi in Kemp Town.

Sussex Police said that the man’s injuries were not life threatening.

A spokesman said that the man was taken from College Road to the Royal Sussex County Hospital near by “following a collision with a grey Ford private hire taxi driven by a 62-year-old man”.

He remains in a serious but stable condition.

Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, which happened at about 1.10am on Saturday (29 October).

PC Suzi Lowry, from the Haywards Heath Road Policing Unit, said: “This is a very unfortunate incident but it is not clear if the man was already lying on the road prior to the collision with the taxi.

“We would like to hear from any members of the public who witnessed the incident or saw the injured man in College Road prior to the collision.”
