Fastest man to give lecture in Brighton

Former land speed record holder Richard Noble is coming to Brighton to talk about the latest attempt to break the world record.

Mr Noble, who held the record from 1983 to 1997, was project director of the Thrust programme which achieved the first-ever supersonic land speed record.

He is now the director of the Bloodhound project, sponsored by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

Its aim is to achieve a new record of 1,000 mph in 2013.

His lecture, organised by the institute, will be at Brighton University in the Cockcroft Building in Lewes Road, Brighton, on Thursday 17 November, at 6.30pm.

To book a seat, contact Dr Dal Koshal, assistant head of the university’s School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics and chairman of the institute’s south eastern region.

Call 01273 642328 or email d.koshal@brighton.ac.uk.
