Brighton & Hove Gay Men’s Chorus
Brighton has a real sense of community – it’s a city with a village atmosphere. We thrive on the fact that it’s full of so many different people, and what we see in the city never ceases to amaze us. Where else would you find a guy with a skate board walking down the street, next to a nun and a drag queen? Our songs tap into the feeling of growing up as gay men. There is one original song in the album, the rest are covers. the arrangements have a reflective quality of hope and love.
Chris Jessop, John Hamilton and Mark Hyndman of the Brighton & Hove Gay Men’s Chorus grabbed global attention when they announced a £1 million record deal with Universal (the label Lady Gaga is signed to). Their debut album is out Monday 5 December, capturing the more unusual repertoire of UK and American alternative rock and indie folk songs. The album features versions of songs by Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails and David Bowie. The Chorus formed six years ago and now has 30 members.
