Ash

Britain’s answer to Jimmy Eat World made a relatively triumphant return to Brighton as an enthusiastic crowd lapped up the numerous hits. Unfortunately as much as I love Ash, and believe me I do, Tim Wheeler’s voice has dropped down from his triumphant best. ‘Orpheous’, much to my chagrin, was a particular low point. However there were enough hits, ‘Shining Light’ being a stand out, as well as the natural night ender, ‘Burn Baby Burn’ to make the evening more than enjoyable. The Northern Irish rockers may be a greyer shade of themselves in their pomp, however they can still teach most bands a lesson or two in delivering an enjoyable set.
