Brighton man robbed in his own home

An 82-year-old Brighton man was robbed and held prisoner in his own home after inviting a stranger to stay the night.

Sussex Police said that the pensioner had met his attacker in a gay venue before taking him home.

Once inside the Kemp Town property the guest beat up his elderly victim, leaving him with cuts and bruises.

The thug then stole money from the man before locking him in a room while he escaped.

The attack and theft happened on Monday (5 December).

Sergeant Alex Evans said: “I believe that this man may be preying on vulnerable people who socialise within gay venues.

“We are making a number of inquiries in order to trace him.

“I would warn people not to invite strangers into their home.”
