Despite sporting a Brian Blessed beard, Glenn’s voice was instantly recognisable and an early shout for ‘Voodoo Chile’ was rewarded with a fine rendition on a 12 string acoustic. Not needing to rely on past glories, his talent to write wry songs of everyday life proved to be as strong as ever. A selection of co-written songs with both Ron Sexsmith and 9 Below Zero demonstrated his versatility but ‘Up The Junction’ was the jewel in the crown. Amazingly a Shadows tribute and an X Factor parody worked equally well and a guest-laden Balearic encore had the crowd out of their seats.
