Brighton flasher ordered to wear a tag

A man has been given a suspended prison sentence for flashing in Brighton and ordered to wear a tag.

Paul Goodenough, 39, of Sandes Place in Leatherhead, Surrey, was convicted at Lewes Crown Court after an incident in February last year.

He was accused of intentionally exposing his genitals intending that someone would see them and be caused harm or distress.

He faced two charges of knowingly or recklessly trespassing on premises with intent to commit a sexual offence – in Ditchling Road, Brighton, and in Gratwicke Road, Worthing. He was convicted on one count.

He was spared jail and given a 12-month sentence for each conviction, suspended for two years.

The court ordered that he be placed under supervision for two years and that he wear a tag for six months with a 7pm to 6am curfew.

He was also ordered to pay £1,000 costs and to be subject to an indefinite sexual offences prevention order.

Goodenough’s arrest followed an appeal on the BBC TV programme Crimewatch. Another man was also exposing himself in Woodingdean at about the same time and has since been sentenced. Marian Suchodolinsky, 26, of Sandhurst Avenue, Brighton, was also given a suspended sentence.
