SIMON KIRBY Conservative MP for Brighton Kemptown
“A highlight was introducing my 10-Minute Rule Bill on the issue of illegal
traveller encampments. It was a significant moment for me as a Member of
Parliament as it was my first opportunity to introduce legislation in the
House of Commons.
“Another highlight was supporting Brighton & Hove Albion’s move to the
new Amex Stadium. For a lifelong Albion fan it was incredibleto see the club make the move to a fantastic new facility and it is testament to how far the club has come. We can look forward to a bright future for Brighton & Hove Albion, which I think will be great for the city.
“A low point has been the Green administration’s attempts to make life
difficult for city residents in a number of areas including higher parking
charges and plans for unnecessary Council Tax rises while at the same time
cutting frontline services. I am worried that their irresponsible policies will put many families under great strain.
“Finally, Whitehawk FC narrowly missing out on promotion was disappointing. It is a great community club and I am optimistic that they will win promotion this season. Next year I would like to see Brighton continue to be an inclusive, cosmopolitan area where businesses are able to grow and
improve the employment prospects for local people.”
