Brighton photo contest winners will be seen at Albion’s ground
A sustainability network is running a photographic competition with the best pictures to be exhibited at Brighton and Hove Albion’s Amex stadium.
Top prizes include a Clock Tower Cameras voucher worth £500, a year’s Zipcar membership with a £150 credit for the world’s biggest car club and tickets to an Albion match.
The aim of the competition is to capture the image of sustainability in one shot.
The competition starts on Monday (9 January) and runs for five weeks until Friday 17 February.
Experts will select a shortlist of 25 pictures which will be posted online for a ten-day public vote ending on Thursday 1 March.
The two top prizes will reward the judges’ choice and the winner of the online poll.
The competition is being run by a Brighton-based website called Caydoo – pronounced kee-doo. It provides an online social platform for people interested in living greener lives.
Co-founder Liam Muckleston, 34, said that the competition would encourage people to think about the environment and where they live.
And he hoped that they would explore the wide variety of sustainable initiatives on offer in Brighton and Hove.
He said: “Photographs capture the imagination and inspire thought and we hope the competition will do just that for Brighton and Hove.
“It’s an exciting opportunity to showcase people’s different ideas of sustainability.
“You don’t need to be a photographer to have a camera and an opinion.
“The idea is to provoke and capture people’s thoughts whatever their age, ability or lifestyle choices.”
Submissions should be uploaded to picture sharing sites such as Flickr, Picasa or Photobucket with a short caption. Entrants will then be required to post a link to their entry in the “A Picture of Sustainability” group on the Caydoo website.
