Tubelord

If you spent your teens bouncing around clubs to the strains of chirpy ’90s pop-rockers Ash, The Wannadies or Weezer, the chances are the soothing sounds of Tubelord may have warmed the old cockles slightly. With all crunchy guitars, hook-laden anthems and passionate Biffy Clyro choruses, this Kingston upon Thames foursome nearly, though not quite, achieved that elusive recipe for pop perfection. Though the band’s songwriting shone through, a striking lack of stage presence prompted an unforgiving, aloof crowd to chatter away. This effectively sabotaged Tubelord’s live set, leaving tunes which deserved to be dancefloor favourites falling flat with an indifferent response.
