Film: J Edgar (15)
Director: Clint Eastwood
With a director like Clint Eastwood, a star like Leonardo DiCaprio and a subject of the man who pretty much invented the FBI as it is today as its focus, it’s no surprise that this biopic already has something of an awards buzz about it. With this much myth already circulating, J Edgar has been ripe for a biographical flick of this nature for some time now.
Leo DiC stars as J Edgar Hoover, the face of American law enforcement for almost 50 years and the iron fist that stayed in play under seven different presidencies. Employing questionable methods, collecting secrets on absolutely everyone that was anyone, and practising double standards throughout, J Edgar was the boogie man for all the sinister men in dark suits and glasses working across the United States. A larger than life character, surrounded by folklore, this will be a corker of a tale. Also starring Armie Hammer, Naomi Watts, Ed Westwick, Josh Hamilton and Dame Judi Dench.
Released Friday 20 January
