Matt Whistler has fun with robots
Whistle and flute perpendiculars placed to perfection, specs cleaned and shoes slipped on with vigor, I was ready to slam my front door and waltz up to Regency Square to the saucy punkrockacidhouseabily Brighton seafront rock ‘n’ roll hotel – Hotel Pelirocco. With 19 themed hotel rooms, HP is guaranteed to tickle those quirky taste buds of any pleasure seeker looking to try something new.
My new girlfriend and I were looking forward to a saucy weekend. She is called ATM and is a 3D robot – an up-cycled creation made from art on canvas that dispenses coffee and performs super-heroine tasks. ATM and I checked in and received a friendly greeting and our room called the Play Room suite made me want to make some shapes and shower ATM with real Champagne.
ATM paused on the round bed under the round mirrored ceiling and her dot matrix printer started spewing out words like ‘Pelirocco, oooooh yeah, Pelirocco… show me some downtime, show me some decadence, show me some pop subculture, retrograde futurism’. We pole danced into the early hours and fell into the plunge bath together. ATM ate my delicious looking eggs Benedict breakfast behind my back, and laser beamed me into the air, to spin me round like a clown’s plate, so I removed one of her circuit boards and carried her back to the house under my arm along Brighton beach. HP marks out of ten… hmmm! Definitely 11.
I will be exhibiting my robots at HP from 1pm, Saturday 18 February. If you come, come in peace.
