Sea Monsters: Fear Of Men, Cinemascopes, Soft Arrows, Tyrannosaurus Dead
Guitar music is dead, apparently. One Inch Badge, the Brighton Label behind Sea Monsters Festival, would beg to differ. So let’s inspect the evidence:
Scuzzy guitar outfit Tyrannosaurus Dead spent most of their set staring at the floor. Next act Soft Arrows injected a much needed adrenaline shot in the arm with their energetic, post punk style, much to the delight of the suddenly packed room.
Cinemascopes’ set was full of meaty bass grooves and intricate guitar riffs, only slightly let down by a weak vocal performance. Headliners Fear Of Men’s pop sensibilities were in full swing, if only there was something else to make it, well, interesting.
Verdict: Guitar music isn’t dead. It’s just a tad boring.
