Girl, 2, critical after being hit by car on Southwick coast road

A two-year-old girl is being treated in hospital in Brighton for serious head and internal injuries after being hit by a car.

The girl was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Eastern Road, Brighton, after the accident on the A259 seafront road, Albion Street in Southwick, shortly before 4pm today (Sunday 29 January).

The girl’s condition was described as critical, Sussex Police said.

The road was closed for just over an hour while police secured evidence.
