Explosions in the Sky

Vocal-less post-rock band EITS immediately launched off with an immersive cinematic guitar sound that captivated the audience from start to finish. It was refreshing to see musicians sweating with enthusiasm and their swaying movements helped illustrate the impressive lolloping build-up and release nature of their music. I feared that the structural confines of this type of “crescendo music” would become boring after a while, but the five-piece band kept things fresh with elements of shoegaze, ambience and distortion. Carefully layered guitars along with good melodies, a variety of effects pedals and pounding triumphant finales created a transcendent experience that was rapturously received.
