The Indelicates

You could have called this a hometown show, if The Indelicates hadn’t already escaped to the country to avoid the ‘Brighton band’ tag. Simon Indelicate led the bare-bones group casually through a short set of intelligent, literate musical cabaret, with Julia (Indelicate, also) acting as counterweight and dropping in show-stealing songs such as ‘Europe’. Although last year’s concept album ‘David Koresh Superstar’ (already their second musical) made a brief appearance, The Indelicates generally stuck to smart, standalone meta-pop, with ‘…If Jeff Buckley Had Lived’ an early highlight. Slightly distracted and over too soon, maybe, but invigorating company.
