Celebcity with Jo Brooks: Down-town Abbey

Hugh Bonneville rumoured for Brighton film, TOWIE boosts the economy and Rizzle Kicks tour

So rumour has it the Hugh Bonneville, best known as Downton Abbey’s formidable Earl of Grantham, is a potential for the part of detective Roy Grace in a new film adaptation of Brighton author Peter James’ novel Dead Simple. It’s not the first time the popular books have tried to make the transition onto celluloid, with varied attempts at translating the works onto the small screen seeing execs consider Scotland and America as possible settings for the crime story. This time, however, Peter James is acting as producer and he’s adamant that as much of the film as possible will be shot in Brighton. This makes a welcome change after most of 2010’s Brighton Rock was actually shot in Eastbourne! We’re big fans of Downton in the office and I’d love to see the Earl taking a stroll around Brighton. If he comes anywhere near JBPR towers we’ll be hounding him for the details of the next series.

Vajazzle dazzle
According to the tabloids, The Only Way Is Essex has done more for the UK economy than our dearly beloved Princess Kate. Stars such as the mega-tanned beautician Amy Childs have boosted sales in false eyelashes by 249 per cent and vajazzles by a whopping 400 per cent. This comes as no surprise to the Laine’s Health and Beauty owner Julie Coates, who was recently named as brand ambassador for vajazzle.me, and enjoys bejeweling many of her clients. “Hoards of clients want to recreate the ultra-glam TOWIE look, and it’s easily achievable,” said Julie. “aAt the salon I have invested in even deeper tanning equipment to meet demand for this craze, and I’m applying false nails, eyelashes and vajazzles all over the place!”
We can only imagine!

rizzle kicking it
Last week Emma watched our fave Brighton lads the Rizzle Kicks take to the decks all in the name of charity. Popping up to London’s trendy East End the boys spun a whole load of banging tunes for The Hoxton Pony’s Macmillan fundraiser. Celeb guests such as Pro Green, Yasmin, Jameela Jamil and Nick Grimshaw got down to the trumpets at the Georgie Okell hosted event. The boys have clearly got their fingers in many pies at the moment, recently announcing that they’d love to follow in Fatboy Slim’s shoes and sponsor Brighton and Hove Albion FC. Jordan commented; “We’d know we’ve really made it if that happens.” To be honest we reckon they’ve already made it, what with a nomination for a Brit award and their first headline tour in the pipeline this month.

frankie parties with geordies
Congrats to Frankie Cocozza for coming runner up in this year’s highly addictive Celebrity Big Brother. We were kind of disappointed that he didn’t win, but after all the negative press he’s had recently, we’d say he’s done pretty well to make it that far! Of course, since leaving the house he’s hit the clubs and the Jack Daniels hard – being photographed with new BFF Kirk Newcross partying with Geordie Shore girls and crazy fans. Frankie has also taken a little trip to London’s Selfridges in order to spend some of his hard earned money – hopefully this is his first step towards shedding the ‘I’ve been living in a garage for my whole life’ look.
