Richard Herring – What is Love Anyway

In his new show, Richard Herring set out to dismantle the very notion of love, be it parental, romantic or the insincere platitudes of arena performers. A mammoth task for sure and Herring didn’t quite follow through on the premise; especially in the latter part where the show becomes a series of routines around the theme, rather than an investigation. But what routines they were. The Ferrero Rocher bit is an instant classic and the closing story about his grandmother is sweet, funny and moving. No-one had their preconceptions of love shattered but everyone had a good time.
