Celebcity with Jo Brooks: Fat beach dance
Norman Cook announces beach line-up, Olly Murs in town for some filming, & Steve Coogan’s meat
So Fatboy Slim has announced his Big Beach Bootique 5 line-up and it’s a killer, featuring a who’s who of the biggest dance DJs. Taking to the decks, alongside the man himself on Friday 1 June, will be the inimitable bass heavyweight Carl Cox, as well as Luciano, The 2 Bears and Maya Jane-Coles. Saturday sees the emphatic dubstep duo Nero, in addition to Annie Mac, Jaguar Skills, DJ Fresh, Doorly and Union DJs storm the stage before a starlit set by the superstar DJ himself. Fatboy’s Big Beach Bootique gigs cemented their place as the biggest and best parties in dance music, and I’ve loved working on every single one! BBB5 is going to push the bar even higher, bringing the beach, beats and bass to Brighton’s brand spanking new football stadium. Both days will see over seven hours of pure dance entertainment so be sure to get your early bird ticket now – at the great price of £35 – from fatboyslim.net. We’ll be there raving away at the front!
Olly gets fishy with dermot
Last week we were desperate to get ourselves into an X-Factor sandwich when both Dermot O’Leary and the gorgeous Olly Murs popped down to Brighton to do a bit of filming. The lovely lads stopped by Dermot’s popular seafood restaurant Fishy Fishy before popping down to the beautiful Brighton seafront. We’re not quite sure what they were up to, but suffice to say we’ll certainly be tuning in once it airs to cure us of our terrible Olly/Dermot withdrawal now X-Factor is off our screens.
Spotted!
Steve Coogan visiting Rottingdean’s Butchers – and it’s not the first time either, the man clearly loves his meat!
Danny and one of the twins (Sam or Ben, we can’t be sure which!) from Ch4 show Playing It Straight, in Donatello Restaurant enjoying some fine Italian cuisine! What we really want to know is whether or not this was a hot date – as neither of the three boys have been ‘outed’ as of yet on the show. The Channel 4 series has seen unlucky-in-love Cara whittle her way through potential suitors while trying to guess which ones are straight, and which one’s are just ‘playing-it-staright’. Being from Brighton, I like to think my gaydar is pretty spot-on, but with these boys it really is difficult to tell. All will be revealed when Cara finally chooses her man; if he turns out to be straight they halve the £50,000 prize money, but if he’s actually gay he gets to pocket it all… Maybe that’s what’s paying for the fancy meal?
