Reginald D Hunter – Sometimes Even The Devil Tells The Truth
The award-winning, syrup-voiced, smooth comic brings his politics, wit and perspective to town
Sometimes Even The Devil Tells The Truth, eh? Does that make you the Devil or the gospel?
“People always seem to think I am talking about me. We are all the devil sometimes.”
What are your own demons?
“Only a psychiatrist and women I have had sex with would expect an answer to that question.”
Do you face them?
“That’s an ongoing battle. Daily. I know no-one living who has completed the demon gauntlet.”
Are there ever truths best left hidden?
“Of course, it’s all relative to who you are talking to. Everyone likes to believe that they want the truth. Most of those people are either delusional or liars. Sometimes the urge to tell the truth is an imposition on the listener, no matter that the listener insists on hearing it.”
Your shows are known for being brutally honest. You dish it out but can you take it?
“Once again, we are down to the listener. There are some people who think my shows are just honest, with no brutality in them and there are others who think my shows don’t even approach honesty. To be honest, I have no certainty with what I can take, I can only comment on besting that which I have faced thus far.”
What do you hope 2012 has in store for you?
“I hope 2012 carries with it a healthy prosperous launch into 2013.”
What was the last thing that you spent time learning?
“Juggling.”
What is your favorite thing that has been said about you?
“You have the prettiest, smoothest ***** I have ever seen.”
What is your favourite compliment to give someone else?
“Pass.”
