Brighton ambulance crew and heart attack patient rescued from lift

A Brighton ambulance crew taking a heart attack patient to hospital became trapped in a lift which broke down.

The South East Coast Ambulance Service crew had been sent to help a patient in Sillwood Street in Brighton at lunchtime on Wednesday (15 February).

When they became stuck in the lift, they raised the alarm and two East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service crews were dispatched from Preston Circus in Brighton.

The fire service said that it received the 999 call at 2.06pm and its crews were on the scene at 2.10pm.

The ambulance crew and the patient were released from the broken down lift within five minutes.
