Photographer Diana Frangi captures the faces and places that define our city. This week: Vicky Melody, Mrs Brighton Galaxy
“I am a performance artist and a dog walker, and am always covered with dust and dirt, so it is great to be able to dress up for a change. It has been very daunting winning the Mrs Brighton Galaxy title because, although I am very confident, I am not your typical model-looking girl. If I win the next competition I could become Mrs Galaxy UK, and the next one up is Mrs Galaxy International where I get to compete in America.”
Winner of Mrs Brighton Galaxy 2011/2012 is Vicky Melody, pictured here with her faithful pooch, Major Tom, a Basset Hound. Vicky is a performer, filmmaker and curator. The Mrs Galaxy competition is for women aged 21 and above who are legally married. Vicky was sponsored by Turn Beautiful beauty salon at Jimmy Chop Chop in Brighton, and will now be representing the city in further events. She has chosen to use her new title and the publicity it will bring to support her favourite charities, The British Heart Foundation and the RSPCA.
